Wedge wire is used in many areas in the separation, screening, filtering, and grading of liquid/solids within Sugar plants.
Whether it be Cane Sugar or beet Sugar there are many areas where wedge wire screens are being used as the main filtering media for the separation of solids from liquids.
Wedge Wire Trommel are now widely used in many sugar refining factories as an important tool in the separation of solids and liquids. Mainly used in Cane Sugar factories, they can be used in multiple areas of the plant for filtering Raw/Mixed juice, Clarified Juice, and Fly Ash.

Highly efficient in filtering bagasse Raw/Mixed juice from the mill or the diffuser. Also suitable for separating the primary juice (sugar manufacturing) and secondary sieving (ethanol manufacturing).
General slots range from 0.50mm to 0.80mm with standard wires. Robust structure designed for increased torque and strength.
Trommel screen intended for the broth cleaning from the decanter, with high retention of the non-decanted residues. For this application screens are used with openings up to 100 microns (150 mesh) and all equipment must ideally be closed to maintain the juice temperature and improve retention efficiency.
General Slots range from 0.10mm to0.25mm with standard wires or ultra-fine wires for more open area. Available in standard or Robust designs.
Trommel screens developed specifically for the water filtration of the incoming water from the gas scrubbers of the boiler. This watercan be returned to the system with the solids used as a fertilizer and spread back on to the land.

There are multiple areas where Looped and Welded wedge wire screens are used as filter media in the sugar factories for beet. These can vary from vibrating screen sieve panels on beet washing and sizing machines. The Sieve bends on rundown screens for tails waste.
